At its core, this is the same Max Bill watch that Junghans has been making for over half a century. It has a clear dial that comes with your choice of either long stick markers or svelte Arabic numerals, just a hint of lume, and tons of negative space. The updates are to the color scheme, with the case getting a soft, semi-matte gold PVD treatment and the dial getting a subtle grey color that keeps the contrast low and the chic-factor high. Since then, it's appeared in two more watches – in May of 2019, in the Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Limited Edition, in stainless steel; and then, in October of 2020, in the "Silver Snoopy" 50th Anniversary Speedmaster (the model has proven to be extremely popular and, despite the fact that it is not a limited edition, extremely difficult to get). I have no real answer for how to meaningfully resolve this, but I can say where my thoughts are currently. I am, however reluctantly, a man. But long-term, they cannot replace the Swiss-watch powerhouse that Hong Kong has become. For now, the unfolding nightmare remains a threat and a worry for everyone with a stake there.
